Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up alongside 12 other kids. Her vivid imagination helped her escape from the pressures of daily life. Before she could write and read, she began to compose the songs she wrote herself. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. The same year, Gold Band Records was an independent label. While she was in school, she had established a name for herself within the local arena. Her goal was to to make music on a bigger scale. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she moved immediately to Nashville. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to join his syndicated show in the years prior to this. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed with RCA Records. The show ended in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton composed "I will Always Be Loving You" to Wagoner shortly after they separated. The track hit the top spot at No. 1 for the first time since 1974.
